Greatest Generation's Longest Running War
The United Police States of Amerika

When a government becomes powerful, it is destructive, extravagant and violent; it is an usurper which takes bread from innocent mouths and deprives honorable men of their substance for votes with which to perpetuate itself." - Cicero The wire - Judge Robert Sweet - St Augustine

We are fast approaching the stage of the ultimate inversion: the stage where the government is free to do anything it pleases, while the citizens may act only by permission." - Ayn Rand

The War on Drugs was never, ever about drugs, it's about bigotry. You can change the law, but changing the prejudice and fear of bigots who hide behind drug war rhetoric is a far more challenging task. It's time to expose the Drug War and the bigots who promote the ideology of "Zero Tolerance" - Steve Kubby
We cannot be both Drug Free and Free - Dr Lester Grinspoon

UN Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs 1961
The Single Convention was the first international treaty to prohibit cannabis. Bangladesh means cannabis - the people centered their lives on the plant. This law help created the famine a decade later

Belief in a
cruel God makes a cruel man - Thomas Paine

The anti-marijuana campaign is a cancerous tissue of lies, undermining law enforcement, aggravating the drug problem, depriving the sick of needed help, and suckering well-intentioned conservatives and countless frightened parents - William F Buckley

Racketeers who developed a billion-dollar illicit drug-industry, using opium that had to be smuggled into the country, should have no difficulty at all in developing a five-billion-dollar racket with marihuana - provided only that the press can be induced to stimulate curiosity by giving the drug publicity

penalties against possession should not be more damaging to an individual thanthan the use of the drug itselfpresident james carter

The difference between a policy and a crusade is that a policy is judged by its results, while a crusade is judged by how good it makes its crusaders feel - Thomas Sowell

Among the greatest harms of 'marijuana' prohibition have been the radical food insecurity and malnutrition that afflict the world, as the result of imposing scarcity of industrial hemp. Because hemp is the only common seed with three essential fatty acids, it s both unique and essential. Unique and essential natural resources have never been within the rightful jurisdiction of any court. Now that global climate change are a widely recognized threat, perhaps the climate-mitigation potential of Cannabis agriculture will be seriously considered - P.E.A.C.E.

1937 Marihuana Tax Act
The Act did not itself criminalize the possession or usage of hemp, marijuana or cannabis, but levied a tax equaling roughly one dollar on anyone who dealt commercially in cannabis, hemp or marijuana. It did, however, include penalty provisions and a complex Regulation 1 codifying the elaborate rules of enforcement marijuana cannabis or hemp handlers were subject to. Violation of these procedures could result in a fine of up to $2000 and five years' imprisonment.
No stamps were issued.
This tactic was used a decade earlier for machine guns.

the U.S. holds 25% of the imprisoned

The Harrison Narcotics Tax Act 1914
was a United States federal law that regulated and taxed the production, importation, and distribution of opiates and cocaine. Its misinterpretation resulted into today's Pharmocracy

We now live in a state of permanent war - a global arms industry, apparently the largest single international business, must have its products used up so more can be sold. There must be profits for the capitalists & jobs for the proles... Are we not still in Caligula's Rome? - David Watson New Internationalist magazine -
Racism and Hatred 1936 - Alamosa Daily Courier -
Whether the mask is labeled Fascism, Democracy, or Dictatorship or the Proletariat, our great adversary remains the Apparatus-the bureaucracy, the police, the military.... No matter what the circumstances, the worst betrayal will always be to subordinate ourselves to this Apparatus, and to trample underfoot, in its service, all human values in ourselves and in others - Simone Weil

Drug War Tactics Endanger Innocent Americans
Since the early 1980s, the U.S. has seen a 1,300 percent rise in the numberof SWAT team deployments, from 3,000 per year in 1981, to more than40,000 per year in 2001 (the number is likely even higher today). It's of no coincidence that this dramatic increase has taken placeover the period the U.S. has reinvigorated its war on drugs.

"It is difficult to get a man to understand
something
when his salary
depends on his not understanding it."

President Bush said in his television address not long ago: 'Our
outrage against drugs unites us as a nation!' A nation
of what? Snoops and informers? Take a look at the knee-jerk, hard-core shits who react so predictably to the mere mention of
drugs with fear, hate and loathing. Haven't we seen these same people before
in various contexts? Storm troopers, lynch mobs, queer-bashers, Paki-bashers, racists
- are these the people who are going to revitalize a 'Drug-free
America'??
- William Burroughs, "The Drug User"

And the cost of all of this 'progress'? Future generations will bear.
Legalizing drugs would simultaneously reduce the amount of crime and raise the quality of law enforcement. Can you conceive of any other measure that would accomplish so much to promote law and order?-- Milton Friedman Nobel Prize winner for economics (Newsweek, May 1, 1972)

"Figures Lie and Liars Figure"
So the latest word is that "our government" uses a rather selective
accounting method, and has for years.
The budget deficit this year is actually $790 Billion. The national debt
is actually $49 Trillion.
The Clinton Budget surplus was a fiction. It won't be long before every
penny simply services the debt.
Laws do not persuade just because they threaten.

We owe Japan $700 billion dollars.
We owe Korea and China as well as Britain, Germany and dozens of other countrys.Police states aren't cheap. Have we ruined our country and its future?. Americans don't realize their taxes don't pay for services, they just service this enormous debt burden. And our wonderful Congress ( the opposite of progress ) has just raised the debt ceiling to $9 Trillion.
We can afford to continue the War Crimes in Iraq and make the rich richer
as social programs are cut. Sick!

There's a
war going on. It destroys lives and families, spawns violence, suspends civil
liberties, tramples
on the infirm, locks up millions of peaceful citizens, costs
billions, and subjugates reason
with fear. This blog looks at the front lines of the drug war,
with
news, analysis, and the occasional
rant.
Drug War Rant
by Pete Guither
"the war on drugs," change it mentally to "the war on some drugs."
At the same time call up to mind all the Drug Stores and
Bars/Saloons in
your town or neighborhood and all the cigarette shelves in your friendly
supermaket and remember that the
government
has started no war against them.
In 1995, African-Americans made up 13 percent of the [US]
population and 15 percent of all drug users, yet they comprised 33 percent of people arrested,
53 percent of those convicted and
74 percent of those sentenced to
prison for drug possession.

Harry Anslinger and The GateWay Lie -
What were the beginnings of the DrugWar?
Some quotes from Harry J. Anslinger, who pretty much
convinced Congress to outlaw marijuana and without
whom it would still probably be legal:
“There
are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes,
Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and
swing, result from marijuana use.
This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.”
“...the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.”
“Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.”
“Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men.”
“Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing.” (becoming pacifist murderers?)
“You smoke a joint and you're likely to kill your brother.”
“Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.”
“Marihuana makes fiends of boys in thirty days – Hashish goads users to bloodlust.”
Harry Anslinger and the Real Reefer Madness -

“By the tons it is coming into this country – the deadly, dreadful poison that racks and tears not only the body, but the very heart and soul of every human being who once becomes a slave to it in any of its cruel and devastating forms.... Marihuana is a short cut to the insane asylum. Smoke marihuana cigarettes for a month and what was once your brain will be nothing but a storehouse of horrid specters. Hasheesh makes a murderer who kills for the love of killing out of the mildest mannered man who ever laughed at the idea that any habit could ever get him....”
Harry Anslinger and the Racist DrugWar -

“Users of marijuana become STIMULATED as they inhale
the drug and are LIKELY TO DO ANYTHING. Most crimes of violence in this
section, especially in country districts are laid to users of that
drug.”
“Was it marijuana, the new Mexican drug, that nerved the
murderous arm of Clara Phillips when she hammered out her victim's life
in Los Angeles?... THREE-FOURTHS OF THE CRIMES of violence in this
country today are committed by DOPE SLAVES – that is a matter of cold
record.”
